The road to the Sekumpul waterfalls was a whole adventure by itself. The hike towards the waterfall was a steep path leading to this overwhelming force of nature. At the bottom, the enormous power of the cascading water was palpable. I took a short dip in the water, but it was impossible to get even near to the falling water because of its force.
This photo tells the story of this force of nature and the peace I found on the way back. Halfway up, we reached a plateau with this incredible view. I set up my mini travel tripod, attached an ND filter to the lens and used a remote shutter for an 8-second exposure shot. This transformed the falling water into a soft, silky effect. A moment of tranquility amidst the power of the jungle.
Once back at the top, we were rewarded with a local coffee and tea tasting, overlooking the deep valley we just came out of. This image, for me, is the perfect reminder of the balance between effort and relaxation.
In an interior, this piece brings just the same balance. It is powerful thanks to the vertical lines, yet dreamy thanks to the soft light and the silky water effect. A beautiful piece for those who appreciate the raw, pure nature of Bali in their home.
